Figurative Soft Sculpture
Created 2003-2019
These soft sculptures are primarily wool, made by needle-felting, wet-felting, or a combination of techniques. “Homage to Tanning’s Cousins” is a 2-piece freestanding sculpture based on a 1971 sketch by Dorothea Tanning, an ode to the artist’s work. “Pretty Imposter,” “Impostrophe,” and “Insomnia Mechanism” are life-sized or oversized, reflecting the issues of social camouflage, imposter syndrome, and habitual sleeplessness, respectively. “A Taste of Stillness” was created in Finland in March 2020 during the onset of the global pandemic.
